This evening I take off for the Lower 48 and a city I haven't visited in close to a decade: South Bend, Indiana. I spent several of my formative years in South Bend and neighboring Mishawaka while I attend the University of Notre Dame. It'll be a little weird to be back, particularly since I'm sure I won't recognize the place! But dang, it looks like the East Race Waterway--the first artificial whitewater course in North America and one of only six in the world--doesn't open until next month. (The dates on the Web site are for 2004 though.) Oh well.
I'm speaking Tuesday night at the Michiana .NET Users Group, courtesy of INETA. My topic is Master .NET Exception Handling, which is going to be fun. There is SO much more to exception handling than try-catch-finally (yawn) and a ton of tricks I've found, as well as some security gotchas. I'm going to stay well away from the basics and instead cover the less often used and often abused sexy stuff.
I'll be bringing some cool Dart Communications products to give away: PowerTCP Secure FTP for .NET, PowerTCP Sockets for .NET, 1 server license for PowerWEB TextBox for ASP.NET, and tee-shirts, of course! Cool tools from cool people. And maybe some Alaska stuff as well, along with the usual INETA goodies.
So, if you're in the area, stop by! This is a quick trip, and I'll be home Wednesday afternoon, the airline gods willing, in time for the annual meeting of the Fairbanks Area Hiking Club.
