Microsoft comes out with the Microsoft Partner Pack for Windows XP and calls it the ultimate application pack for the Win XP PC.

Well, I am in the process of downloading the pack and verifying the claim ... till then you can hop over and get a copy for yourself ...

And did I forget to say .. it is FREE ...

One of the components listed in the individual downloads is the Google deskbar ... weird !!!

Asking all SQL Server DBA's to join in ... I will be keeping the membership open for five days and after that it will be moderator approved. I would like to create a like minded community where we can all talk about SQL Server 2005 and how to work our way towards it .... or in other words ... as put very well by Kent ... We must bridge Yukon together

Ok !!! I ve been having quite a heated discussion about IIS and Apache Server usage with one of my friends .... Almost most of the web surveys show Apache as the clear leader in spite of what I know are its deficiencies ...

I need some solid arguments as to why this is so ... I hope many of you can help me out there  (I am seriously out of depth here ... as I am working with SQL Server as a DBA ) ... I invite the open source community to come out with their arguments  ...   

From what I think is that most websites (small businesses and personal coz they are low cost) are based on apache servers due to the cost effectiveness ... is that so  ?

Please venture forth with your ideas ... and also with reasons which webserver is better under which conditions ???

SQL Server Notification Services

This is what I am working on right now .... can anyone guide me to resources where I can know how to send notifications to a PDA, through IM or by SMS .... am able to do it only through mail till now :(

Custom Skin for .TEXT

.Net - Beginner's Story

Just downloaded the .Text Code and got it running on my IIS ... plan to create a new custom skin for .Text (need some variety .. all the sites using .Text are using the same skins) . Wait and see what happens ... coz I am not exactly a .NET developer (I mean .. I have practically no experience in .NET programming ... I am a DBA). Will blog about my experiences in due course as to how it progresses (I believe it will be quite amusing for all you guys, to hear about my experiences learning the language from scratch (without any of those Learn .Net in 21 days books).

Also would appreciate comments on what books would be helpful to me  (Beginner Level)
