ICA: Battle Buffalo (Flay vs. Bayless)

Okay, I have to say from the outset that neither of these Chef prepare cusine that ares really my favorite. That said, I like Buffalo plenty well, especially in stews, as burgers and steaks so its going to be interesting to see what they do with this.

I was pretty impressed with Bayless's Sous-Chef (Tracy)'s skill with breaking down the Buffalo side.

Yum - Corn in lard. That looked good!

Early on, it looks like Bayless and his team have much better displine and control in their effort than Flay and his team

Okay, so it doesn't look like Food Network has made any of the much needed changes: Alton is still carying too much of the show by himself; Kevin Brauch just isn't food knowledable enough to do the floor job and the Chairman still is about as still as month old crouton.

Much better judge than usual in Schueller and Steingarten. What's the point of having BDJ is s/he's not going to do commentary during the content, thoug?

Chili Relano? That's not very creative... even I can do that.

Interesting that Bobby decided to go after his Sous chef about the Chutney. Yeah, its the other chef's job to do the dish right, but calling him out on national TV? That's tacky if not classless.

Okay, so, Empenadas aren't that original either.

No, it's barking. Call it what it is.

Wow, Bobby didn't managed for burn, cut or electricute himself.

Well, my Chili Relano wouldn't look that good! Giving credit where credit is due...

Flay's presentation is getting more impressive these days. Ouch, that hurt to say. :)

I hate to say this, but Flay looks like he has a better line-up tonight on all counts.

Bayless dishes: The Tartare looked good, the empenadas looked killer, the Fava Bean dish did nothing for me. The last dish looked like I'd really like it. Funny to ee Steingarten waving a bone around like King Henry.

Flay's dishes: The Chili Relanos looked awesome. The Curry dish was interesting to see Flay try that. Nothing really stood out as a Buffalo dish though, execpt for the last. Steingarten has good taste: ribs and fried bread do rule.

Well, I'm thinking that Flay probably won by a few points, but I could really see it going either way. If the contest was "who did the most original and test tasting work with Buffalo," I'd have to vote for Bayless. Its its strictly what dishes plated and tasted best, Flay likely won.

Stunned to see that the at-home watchers were clearly picking Bayless.

Well, there's a shocker. Flay wins again. Much closer than I expected though.
