Whoa -- John Udell gets it.

Thanks to Jeff Brand for pointing this one out. John Udell has a pretty interesting item -- "WinFS and social information management" over here. But why do I say it's "pretty interesting?" and that "he gets it?"

  1. He's the first significant high-profile journalist type I've seen connect the dots the same way I have. WinFS really is about exposing knowledge, not just data, so its just as easy to work as we've come to work with Data today.
  2. It doesn't have to limited to just WinFS, but that's lowest-barrier entry point.
  3. He understands how we've gotten there and how it can all fit together to work. Like Quinten said, its about Integration, not invention.

But what's really scary to me is the his reference to Cory Doctorow's Outboard Brain. Dead on connection, John, but the analogy may not end there. Read Jeff Hawkin's "On Intelligence" (John has) and I'd be stunned if you don't see where all of this could lead.
