Handling Data Integrity Issues in Analysis Services 2005
Right on the heels of very interesting discussion between
Donald Farmer
,
Marco Russo
and
Jamie Thomson
. The discussion goes to the question of how to handle referential integrity problem - what is fact table contains the key which is not present in the dimension table. While these guys mostly discuss how this can be done in Integration Services, we - Analysis Services 2005 have great design how to deal with such issues. TK Anand, who is Program Manager in our team, just published whitepaper on MSDN exactly about this issue:
http://msdn.microsoft.com/sql/default.aspx?pull=/library/en-us/dnsql90/html/AS2K5DataIntegrity.asp
Update: Here is very relevant
article by Christian Wade
on the subject of UnknownMember in Analysis Services 2005 (thanks to Jamie Thomson for pointer)
