Encryption and security in SQL Server 2005

Tom Rizzo posted some useful encryption demo scripts a few days ago. If you haven't checked out encryption or security enhancements in SQL Server 2005, I recommend that you first watch the recent The New Security Model in SQL Server 2005 webcast on MSDN and then check out Tom's scripts. The demos in the webcast use very similar scripts and they will make much more sense with Girish's explanations. I have to admit, security wasn't high on the list of the things I wanted to check out in Yukon, but this webcast got me very excited about the new features and all the possibilities. With the new security features we will be able avoid a lot of security kludges and sometimes giving users too much power on the server to do what they need to do. And I totally in love with with EXECUTE AS LOGIN and REVERT.

I hope the link to the webcast will work for a while, for some reason the webcasts from 12/8 didn't make it to the Microsoft On-Demand Webcasts page.
