Very Special Announcement
We’re pleased to announce that the Junkies Web sites are joining the CMP Media LLC network of developer-oriented publications, events and Web sites.
CMP is the publisher of Dr. Dobb’s Journal, Software Development magazine, the Software Development Conferences, MSDN Magazine, TechNet Magazine, C/C++ Users Journal, Sys Admin, Game Developer, and the Game Developer Conference, among others.
We will remain as active members of the team working on the Junkies sites moving forward. We are very excited about this acquisition because it means that we can put more resources into the sites which are needed to make them even better and more valuable resources for you. In the coming weeks you will see fresh content at more regular intervals and new features being launched to make your experience on the sites a better one. Ultimately the sites wouldn’t be where they are today if it weren’t for your loyalty and support and we hope to continue to honor that by bringing you the best resources for learning about Microsoft technologies that we can.
CMP Media LLC/Junkies FAQ
Who is CMP?
CMP is the publisher of many software development focused properties, such as Dr. Dobb’s Journal, Software Development magazine, Software Development Conference, MSDN Magazine, TechNet Magazine, C/C++ Users Journal, Sys Admin, Game Developer, the Game Developer Conference, among others.
Why did CMP purchase the Junkies sites?
CMP is dedicated to providing programmers with information, and venues where they can share ideas and expertise. The Junkies sites are an excellent fit with our existing publications, events and Web sites.
How will Junkies members benefit from the link to CMP?
Members and users will benefit in a number of ways. There will be more content, as well as a larger community of users with whom to share information. We will be expanding the scope, increasing the depth of content available on the sites, and working to increase the visibility of the sites within the appropriate developer communities.
Will the Junkies sites remain separate and distinct within the CMP portfolio?
Yes. The Junkies sites will remain separate, although in the future we hope to make access to our other developer sites more transparent.
What privacy policy applies to data I submit to the Junkies Web Sites?
CMP has its own Privacy Statement [Privacy] and Terms of Service [Terms of Service]. Generally, you’ll find many of the same topics covered, but there are some differences in approach and some additional terms [Additional Terms of Service at Terms of Service] that apply only to the Junkies Web sites. We encourage you to read all of these documents, as they apply to your use of the Junkies Web sites as of April 4, 2005. If you have any questions, please submit at http://www.cmp.com/feedback/form.jhtml and we will respond in a timely manner.
Does this acquisition mean I have to log on to the Junkies sites via a CMP Web site?
No. The log-in to the Junkies sites will remain separate. In the future, we do hope to implement a unified registration scheme with other CMP sites.
Will the founders remain after the acquisition by CMP?
Doug and Donny will continue on after the acquisition. They know the sites, their users, and contributors better than anyone. Doug is now a full-time employee at Microsoft, so he will be balancing his time as needed.
If I have additional questions or support inquiries, who should I contact?
We’re all dedicated to making this transition as transparent and beneficial as it can be for all the sites’ users and contributors. Please send all questions, concerns, or support inquiries via email to: help@dotnetjunkies.com or help@sqljunkies.com. We will do our best to respond back in a timely way.
